Appam (Hoppers) & Idiappam (String Hoppers) is traditionally a breakfast dish in South India (Particularly in Kerala and Tamilnadu) & Srilanka and popular in Singapore and Malaysia too. While Idiappam is made of rice flour compressed into noodles woven into disc like shape and steamed Appam is made from the rice batter. Soft and fluffy in the center and lacy at the edges is the hallmark of quality Appam, and Melam Appam/Idiyappam Podi has specially ground to create appams with fluffy centers and lacy edges and makes delicious Idiappams in a jiffy too. Can be served with Vegetable stew, fish curry and those who like it sweet can have it with coconut milk and gaggery mixed.
