The Bengal gram, a yellow lentil abundantly grownin the Indian subcontinent is very similar to chickpea and has a sweet and nutty taste. Also known as Egyption peas these lentils are high in protein. This is unpolished hence it does not contain any harmful polishing agents. Apart from Indian cuisine it is widely used in Mediterranean and Arabic cuisine.
